Jamshid Bayrami is one the world’s most accomplished photojournalists. His photograph for the cover of an issue of the Economist has proven one of that publication’s most iconic images.
For the exhibition’s opening night, a Qawwali concert by Fareed Ayaz and eight members of his party will perform in association with Théâtre de la Ville, Paris; the Embassy of Pakistan in Bahrain; and Gulf Air. The Qawwali is Sufi music, and Qawwal means ‘word’ in Arabic – the wise word representing the divine voice. Fareed Ayaz and the party are of Pakistani origin and among the world’s most famous Qawwali groups today; winning acclaim by their peers and audiences around the world, and numerous awards for their time-honored art.
